Due to the lack of mechanical wear and tear, ultrasonic wind detectors have a long use time, so they are mostly used in occasions where later maintenance is inconvenient and stable operation is required. Commonly used in the top of the wind turbine nacelle, it is used together with the mechanical wind meter for parallel observation.
Due to its light and mobile characteristics and its high price, radar wind measuring equipment is mostly used for multi-point short-term supplementary wind measurement when wind farms already have wind towers. Due to the high cost of installation and dismantling and complicated procedures, offshore wind towers also use lidar to measure wind. Before radar wind measurement, it is necessary to observe in parallel with the mechanical wind meter of the wind tower for more than 7 days for accuracy verification.
